Patrick Ryder, Deputy Commissioner stated that the heroin is likely being cut with fentanyl or another powerful synthetic opioid. Ryder said, “It’s not cut correctly, it’s obviously killing people.”
The King of Death strain of heroin is so powerful, that it has been reportedly taking 2 to 3 shots of Narcan (naloxone), an overdose antidote to bring an overdose victim back from a state of overdose
Drug counselors and police claim that they haven’t seen “King of Death” on Long Island but suspect and fear they won’t have to wait long before they do.
Steve Chassman, executive director of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence stated, “This is an epidemic. The derivatives of fentanyl is making heroin all the more lethal.”
People who witness a drug or heroin overdose are urged to call 911 and is protected from prosecution under the state’s Good Samaritan Law.
